Up to one in five who have been clinically dead can report near-death experiences where they have seen their body from the outside, have been met by light and peace or figures. While the experiences for them become life-changing, they are often met with suspicion from the healthcare system and their loved ones.

When Mette Thygesen was 14 years old, she had a violent riding accident. The horse tripped and fell forward, and the last thing Mette Thygesen saw was the horse that fell on top of her. The next thing she later remembered was that she went down through a black hole. When she looked around, the darkness was not completely black, and there was a faint sound like rippling water. The air was neither very dry nor humid. She saw a light that she experienced as the warmest, most loving, and enveloping light, filled with wisdom.
lt felt like the light was pulling gently at her, and she was moving towards it, faster and faster the closer she got to it. Meanwhile, she sensed that there were souls rallying around her from the sides and letting her understand that what she had done was right and good.
